Just Joined - need model info

Hello everyone, I am looking at getting this Airstream and would like to know the model of it. The owner has owned it for 21 years and is looking for the paperwork on it. I will be picking it up next weekend. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the bad photo.

It's about a 24 or 26 foot trailer from the mid 60's.

Posting a serial number will help further.

The serial number plate is near the enrance door.

Of course, better photo's would also help.

Andy

Thanks I went to look at it at night time I have been working on tring to get it for some time now, the owner called me to come over and when I did it was dark outside. I took this photo when I passed by on my way home from work. I have to go over there in a bit I am going to look for some #'s and some sort of badge. Thanks,

This is a tough one. The VIN will tell you everything. My guess would be a 1968 Safari, but it's just a guess based on window location and size. The refrigerator vent is in the correct spot as well.

I just got back from looking at it again, it looks to be 19 feet long. It has some badges near the door that read Land Yacht 0228 s189 2762 Safari please help with any info. Thanks, Bryan

0228 s189 is the VIN.
It's a 1968 22ft Safari, built in California with twin beds. It has the standard trim package (not the International trim).

Welcome Bryan. Those are some interesting window covers. I assume the prev. owner bolted those on to keep the critters out? Do they come off or are you going to need to do some repair?

Good luck and welcome.

Bryan.

Airstream trailers are measured for the tip of the coupler to the bumper.

A 22 foot Airstream, is close to a 19 foot shell.

Looks like you have you work cut out in many ways.

A good starting point, is to weather proof the trailer. That's done by making sure the window, entrance door and access door gaskets are in good shape. If not, they will usually leak in a rain.

Once that's done, you can tinker with the rest of the trailer as your time and budget permits.

Andy

I am going to have to repair the windows, the owners grandson threw rocks at the windows, then the owner screwed the metal panels over the lack of glass.

You have a very desirable year and length. Maybe some work but you will have a real beauty when you are done. Keep us posted.
