My wife and I have just returned from our last camping trip in our renovated 1974 Avenger that is now for sale. Two days before our trip I was able to bring home a 1970 23 foot Safari. We have looked at Airstreams for several years - after seeing one owned by friends at a campground some years back and set our sights on getting one. My son had a 31 footer but that was more than I wanted to tow for the amount of camping we do.
I have been reading the forums for awhile and they have been very helpful and I am learning much.
Some plans at this point are a rear floor repair (yup found that thread already) checking out the safety of the frame - axel and brakes etc, The previous owner has done some nice interiour work - but I hope they checked the floor etc before beginning. There is some rot in one corner under the batery and the power converter.
and unfortunately they took out the rear bed - so something else will have to be built for that as well.
So the adventure begins.
I am looking for some kind of owners manual etc to help with some basic undersandings of the airstream. I suspect it does not have a greywater tank. only a black water tank but that is yet to be discovered.
I have already appreciated the attitude that veteran aristreamers have given to us Newbies - a nice change from forums on other topics.
Hello and welcome. As you know from your reading, you are among friends and experts here on this forum. Keep us updated with your progress on your new-to-you Safari! ~G
