Just bought my first Airstream!

My wife and I had been looking for a vintage motorhome for a while, and found one we liked! We bought a 1977 Airstream Argosy (24 foot) last night. We are very excited! It appeared to be in great shape and was clean thoughout. Original Engine was the only scare point, but I figured I was in for the long haul, and willing to rebuild it if needed, but it drove nice on the freeway! Any Advice as to what to do? Everything works on it, and he gave a good demo of the ins and outs. I plan to take it to a Motorhome repair place, and have them inspect it. I live in Sacramento, CA. We plan to keep it vintage as we can.

Questions:

1. Anyone own the same model that towes anything? We don't have anything to tow, but I'm curious if it can? Previous owner never towed anything, other than a small box attached to the hitch for extra storage.

2. This Rig did not have anything for self leveling. Do you know if it can be added on?

3. Any known issues with this, that you can point me to? I did not see anything online to scare me?

4. Does anyone know a good person to take it to in the Sacramento Area? (I know Camping world is close, but they seem expensive?) just curious if anyone has a reference of someone local they like.

My family is excited!! I have 2 young kids, so we hope to hit the campground, and go road trippen this summer!

I hope to use this fourm to get advise, as I'm sure I'll need it as things come up.

Thanks!

Hi Scott, welcome! Sounds like a great find, I hope it meets all of your needs and expectations.
There are a couple of active members in the Sac area.
Codybear is one that comes to mind, there are others. Hopefully one of them will see your post and chime in.
Good luck, Dave

Scott welcome to the group. There are lots of people that can answer any questions you may have. Can you post pictures of your new baby?

Gather up the family and come on down to the Calstreamers summer rally!

It's off I 5 near Gorman. We'll have another Classic Moho there and you may as well start camping now. It's July 20 through 22.

Look on the upcoming rally page for info and Run California Streamers Summer Rally using the search feature. Hope we see you there.

I feel geeked out alreay!

fryzowt -- where is Central Cali are you? I grew up in Visalia.

As for the Rally in Gorman, that sounds fun, but I think we are going to start off with short trips to get used to all the things we need to know about the RV life. We have always tent camped...

Hi smsterling and welcome. i also live in the Sacramento area. I do know of a good place for eqiupment and other stuff for trailer. I don't know if they work on Moho or not, but they are located off 50/80 on El Camino. There name is Allied Trailer Supply. I had them hook up my sway controll and prodigy. They do good work and not very exspensive. Or at least they maybe can lead you to some that can help you.

Good luck,
Robert

The best place to learn is surrounded by Airstreamers at a Rally! Forum ralliers are the nicest people and will get you up to speed faster than a year in college!

Dive in HEAD FIRST!
