just bought a 61 globetrotter blind & nekkid

no research, no price guide, no clue. just fell in love. very good condition inside and out -we think. the thing is a real time capsule. used in the sixties, then the door was shut untill now!

glad to be aboard and hope someone could direct us to links or advice on testing all the propane stuff and precautions to take before hand. the fridge seems hit or miss but the heater and water heater scare me.

cheers
john and merry

My opinion:
Take it to a qualified RV repair facility to have the propane appliances checked. This is for your safety, and that of neighboring campers. Most of us are not qualified to give you repair or safety check advice for those.
There are many threads here that will help with the rest of it, do a search for specific topics. You'll be surprised at the level of experience here.
Welcome!
Dave

Greenrig,

Welcome! When the Airstream bug bites, it bites hard. Sounds like a great find. Find out if it's Ohio built or California built and what brand furnance it has. Most people feel safer with a new water heater & a new furnance, those being 47 years old. Our original fridge, stove, and oven all work fine, but we did replace all the propane lines. Also, our '61 has two seperate electrical systems, 110v & 12v, in it. Please post some pictures.

GTs are nice sized trailers, congrats! I agree, if you're not confident aroung propane, I'd take it to a pro for it's first checkup. That's what we did with ours. Made life a lot more worry free!

reenrig ~

Post the serial number and I'll just bet someone here can decode it for you. One of the items decoded will more than likely be the plant of origin. Post some pix too. We love to see a newly found rig with newly excited owners.
