Just arrived all the way from VA to TX

We just bought a 1975 31 Sovereign from a lady in Virgina my husband just arrived back in Texas with it last night...We need to update it but besides that it is in good condition...Any ideas of where we can get a new toilet, and some other odds and ends?

Welcome and congrats on your new Airstream! Don't rule out stores like Home Depot and Lowe's - we've gotten a lot of our bits and pieces there. Good luck!

Keep in mind that very few parts of your rig are specific proprietary "Airstream" items. With the exception of the frames and bodies (the skeleton) most of the innards are off the shelf items either from the automotive, marine, or RV market or even the general houselhold hardware market. It takes awhile to become familiar with alll the vendors, but forum members have winnowed out just about every source and are more than willing to share–just ask. That said there are a few hen's teeth that are precious finds when they occur. WELCOME!

New toilet

Welcome to the forums and welcome to airstreaming.

Just a thought on your toilet replacement. We have a 83 motorhome and decided last year to replace our existing leaking toilet with a new one instead of repairing. we bought a new thedford high rise (same brand as old one) got it unboxed and uninstalled the old toilet. The bolt pattern for installing was different and in order to install I would have the toilet sideways or install new bolts. I wasn't in a mood to attempt to install new bolts . Back into the box and return to the dealer to exchange for a riser and repair kit for old toliet. Repair was quite easy and it all fit on the existing bolts.

If your old toliet is not broken beyond fixing you might want to check into a repair kit. Check your bolt pattern and find out how to install new hold down bolts if the pattern is not the same. Good Luck to you and have many great days ahead in your new trailer..
