Hi to all, I am a new member and just wanted to share. Linda and I bought our first Airstream last Friday. It is a 1962 Globe Trotter # 192D316. We have been driving past the jewel twice a day everyday and did not know it was there, just 1/2 mile from our home. I read all the posts I could find and went to inspect it. 2 flat tires but no split rims, a scratch down the side but no bent panels, door latch needs to be replaced. everything inside original except the frig was removed and the heater. pulled out the bottom drawer in the bathroom vanity and no holes or rot in that area. under both sofa beds I pulled up the carpet and it looks pretty good. I don't expect it to be rot free but it looks good. We have another fifth wheel so we plan to clean the interior and do a complete inspection and if it leads to a complete resto, fine with us. We are excited and can't wait to dive into this project. the people whom we bought it from had another that looks restored and told me they traveled cost to coast with the GT and lived in it while they were hosts at different parks. We are happy!

Every possible question you might have about your new (to you!) trailer will get a response from folks who have done whatever you might do to your '62. Ask questions and spend plenty of time researching on here, it'll save you lots of time, frustration, and you're going to make some friends as well. (I didn't say anything about saving $ because there are so many great ideas you'll run across you'll probably find the scope of your project getting larger with every one of them!)

Hello all, newbie here. We are in the process of deciding on our first Airstream. There are several for sale within a 2 hour drive;a 1969 28', 1972 29' and a 1978 31'. All things being relatively equal, what would you pick and why?

I would inspect them first and see which will be to your taste now all are fans of every model. I do love them all but it is a comfort thing. So are there to be pictures soon?
Gotta get busy! Have a great day! Now where did I put those revits?

ID:	203425Thank you everyone for the great advice. I have been inside one (first time every inside an Airstream, I actually teared up! LOL Don't laugh at me. ) and seen one other from the outside.
We're closing on a house and will have cash in February, so am having a bit of a problem with my impatience. Husband wants to wait to look when we have cash, but I enjoy shopping both online and in person.
The '69 28 is all original and in pretty good shape, just a few dents here and there.

The '78 31 has a long scratch and bumps down the port side but I have not been inside yet. She has new tires, repacked bearings, and new A/C. The third owner is having a baby any day so I'm leaving them alone for awhile. Will keep you posted! Have a blessed day...
