Insurance

Good afternoon
We (Kieth & Barbara) just purchased and are renovating a 1986 30" Avion travel trailer and are trying to find some good options for insuring the $40K total investment. Can anyone out there recommend a good insurance company that writes "agreed value" policies?

I know it's Avion ...not Airstream --your grace will be appreciated.

from the heat of Arizona...looking for some help!!!

Progressive can in California write an agreed upon value policy. Different states have different laws, but it is worth a call.

Hi and welcome from Colorado: My wife's uncle had an Avion for many years. It is known as a well built trailer.

There is a "Dollar and Cents" category in these forums where "agreed value" insurances are discussed. One watch out is read the fine print on the policy.

I have two vintage Airstreams. Both are "agreed value" insurance policies. I "brokered" this policy with Farm & City Insurance Services out of Forest City, Iowa. (Home of Winnebago). Why, because I'm originally from Iowa. The policies are underwritten by Nationwide / Allied I believe. Anyway, this FCIS insurance seems to specialize in agreed value policies, knows the process, and knows the insurance companies who will take it. May be worth a call for you and your Avion.

Agree with the others - FCIS is the bomb. Excellent service, great prices, easy process.

Have your trailer appraised by a knowledgeable person such as Jim Polk out of CA. He does appraisals from pictures you send for $300, and they have held up in court. He does this for a living and is well known by the insurance companies. He sends you a 20something page blow by blow review of your trailer. He requests a breakdown of costs as part of his info you send. We did this and have State Farm agreed upon value with their vintage section. You pay a little more for this insurance but we think it's worth it. We review this yearly with State Farm.
Jim says it's best to do a re-appraisal every 3 to 5 years, especially if you are continuing to make improvements. He charges half price for this.
