I'm delighted to find this forum. My husband (Logbear) found it some time ago, but today is my first time here. We purchased a used Airstream last month and took our first weekend trip in it shortly after. We're now on our longer (3-4 weeks) vacation to the Bishop area of CA. We're enjoying fixing things up (and just fixing) and are delighted so far. We purchased a 1984 29' Sovereign
for $5500. It came with a new refrigerator, and we have replaced the water heater, toilet, propane tanks and lines, converter, and dump valve parts. (Thanks to these forums for the info on that! Logbear says it saved his a$$!) We've also added a 2nd battery (and switch) and a surge protector. I've actually pulled out a needle and thread and have been repairing the roll-up shades and 'handles' on the awnings. It took us some time to find something -- aside from cost & general worthiness, our issues were the bed
location and interior visuals - please, not so much white or aluminum!! The PO removed some of the living area storage but gave the pieces of it to us, along with some of the other parts he had removed. It also came with a small, blue easy chair that seems to match the interior. Is that possibly original? I doubt that we'll make this a renovation project, but our aim is to keep it in good shape and useable, because we certainly want to do that!
