I'm Back!

I haven't been here in about a year and a half. I sold my '65 Globetrotter in November, 2005. Her before, during, and after photos are in the Airstream photos site.

What totally horrified me, and I was truly nauseous for about a day, was that I found out that my sweet Gracie Globetrotter was shipped to Japan, gutted to just the outer skin, and turned into some sort of mobile bar.
All that time, work, and $$$ just tossed into the dumpster.

I really missed the glint of aluminum, so I bought a '72 Tradewind last week. It doesn't need a lot done to it, new cushions, flooring, and some elbow grease. I'll try to keep it as close to the original as possible.

It looks like a lot has happened on the forum since I was here last, but it's good to be back.

Thanks!
I realized that my avatar needs to be changed. It's of my old Gracie.
I see I still have my rivets!

I know how you feel about seeing/hearing about all your efforts thrown into the trash. A few years ago I was selling a classic convertible like the one in my avatar. I had a cash customer with money in hand as I was giving him some history of the time and dollars I had put into it. When I finished up with," It is going to need a new top in the near future.," the potential buyer then said,"Oh, I don't care about the top. I was going to discard it along with the interior and turn the car into a lowrider." No deal!

Welcome back. We are anxious to 'see' your '72.

Diana, glad to see you have returned to the forum. I wondered where you had disappeared to.

Hi, I missed you too! Wondered if you were still streaming. Sorry to hear about your GT, it was a beauty. That's a shame to have that happen. Unfortunately we have no control over what happens to them after they leave our hands.

Thumbs up

I'm really impressed with how much the forum has changed. I have a lot of reading to get ideas on how to fix up my new little gem.

This Tradewind is almost all original. Even the curtains are in great shape. The previous owner(s) seem to have kept the roller shades down to protect the interior.

Here are two pictures that the seller sent me. It was about 90 minutes up the road in Corona. I drove up and bought it on the spot. They drove it down to San Diego yesterday.

Welcome back, and what a gorgeous trailer. A nice find, and it has come to a good home.

Welcome back! You bought an excellent trailer. My favorite year and model, in fact!

I may have to pick the brains of other '72 Tradewind owners from time to time.

How bad was my craving to get another Airstream? I don't even have a tow vehicle anymore! I sold my Tahoe after I sold my Globetrotter. I'm tootling around in a Scion xB now.
The seller delivered the trailer to me. Why let a little detail like nothing to pull it with get in the way of owning an Airstream?

By all means! If you need any pictures, beyond what I have in my photo gallery, or manual information, just let me know.
