Question I need dining chair info for airstreams!

Hello...i am an artist upholsterer in the seattle area that has been hired to redo the interior of a 2005 28ft airstream. there are formica curved benches in there now but my client would like "dining" chairs..and they have to be removable..so they could go from the dining table inside the trailer to the great outdoors..if they want to sit outside. Now my BIG question is do they make hardware and/or chairs that attach to the floor (so they don't slide around when the trailer is being towed) I hope this question is not too strange and that someone out there has an answer for me! thanks!!

Chairs

Hello from Portland, OR...

I have an '04 Safari 25. I needed an additional chair to pull up when eating. There is no dinette in my trailer... a table in front of part of the sofa. Anyway, I bought a BABA side chair in beach wood from Design Within Reach here in Portland, It works great... looks great too. When not using it at the table, it sits just inside the door to the right... up against the wall. It is sitting on carpeting and does not slide around at all. So I wonder if you really need to bolt them down. They have some really great chairs at Design Within Reach that would look great in an Airstream.

I don't know of any floor attachment method. It would be a shame to start punching holes in the floor coverings for attachment plates, et cetera. Maybe a concealed loop & strap system between the table & chairs, or a compression device between seat top & table bottom would work (only for transport). The indoor/outdoor ability would bring up some design/material issues. Have they considered folding chairs? Nice ones are available. They are not cheap (~$180 each), but are well constructed, come in a variety of finishes/coverings, and fold flat for easy storage.

I saw some dinette chairs designed for airstreams on ebay recently, there were 3 pair of 2. Do a search and they might still be there. Good luck!

I just purchased two dinette chairs from Lafuma. Apparently this is a new product. We will use them with the dinette when the table is set up and then fold them when we are travelling. If we want they can be taken outside.
