Well after about 6 years and many negotiations, I was able to wear my wife down, I mean, convince my wife that we did indeed NEED an Airstream. We ended up purchasing a 1986 29' Soveriegn, with a queen in the back, goucho in the front, and the bathroom is midships. Unfortunately, I can't pull it yet until I finish making the modifications to the tow vehicle - a 1978 Ford F350 SuperCab Campering Special. As this truck was originally set up to have a camper, it doesn't yet have a reciever hitch or trailer brakes but I have bought a Reese Class IV receiver and a Prodigy brake controller for her. My two young boys (as well as my wife and I) are looking very forward to summer holidays to take her on our maiden voyage. I'm sure I am going to have a ton of questions for you all, so be patient!
YEEEEEHAAAAAAW!!!

I guess I'll have to change my AVATAR picture now.
Okay, now I'm feeling a little foolish. I forgot my digital camera at my mom's house on Easter (ooops). But I'll have it back by this weekend and post some pics for you guys then.
Did you buy this one locally or over the line? If OTL how were the border folks to deal with? When Greg brought his '53 in last Thursday it was 15 minutes total and they were great to deal with. I think showing up at 6 AM gave them something to do instead of playing games on the computers when he walked in.

Rod...a hearty welcome and congratulations coming your way from the way otherside of North America (in New England)! I'm sure your wife will come to love the Airstream and will soon forgot why she even resisted in the first place.
I actually ended up buying locally so I didn't end up having to deal with the border crossing. I should have some pics of it tonight, so stayed tuned.

Congrats Rod on your 'new' Airstream! Can't wait to see the photos! And, great you bought local - always good to support the hometown folks.

Hey Rod
Congrats on the addition to the family and Welcome to the forums. If I were U ( have done this) I would go to U_Haul if u have them up there, and have the heaviest receiver installed, and I bet they would help ya with the wiring for the controler also. They have the rite equipment to drill the frame (which may already be drilled) Its money well spent, to have the receiver installed properly. There is also a possibiliy that the wiring is already there.you just need to find it.
You an your family are in for a treat Im sure. We are just starting out this yr also ,Its going to be a new experience for us also.
Enjoy
Roger
