Howdy from Central FL

Howdy folks!

Iím not yet an Airstream owner, but hope to be in the not-too-distant future. My wife isnít fully convinced we should fork out the money for a travel trailer, but she isnít entirely against it either.

Currently we are kind of stuck doing only day trips because we canít leave out pets while away, so Iíve been suggesting to my wife that if we got a trailer, we could take them with us for weekend trips and week-long vacations. I think the idea is rolling around in her head a little, so weíll see.

Weíve gone to a few RV places but donít see many Airstreams. In the next few weeks, weíll drive over to Orlando and Tampa so we have a better opportunity to see some (I know, we just missed the big RV show in TampaÖ just found out about it, go figure). Weíll have to keep the Airstream light because of my tow vehicle, so Iím really interested in looking at the Sport 22FB and Flying Cloud 19.

Also, I have to say that Iím really impressed with what Iíve seen of the Airstream community so far.

Anyway, this was meant to be a quick ďhelloĒ, so hello! Hope to see you out there someday.

ÖChuck

J.D. Sanders in Alachua has been an Airstream dealer forever. Family-owned and operated. Great service department, nice little parts store.

Might be worth an afternoon drive...

Welcome to the forums, and happy hunting!! Are you looking for new, vintage somewhere in between? There are many great floor plans and a ton of different options depending on what needs you have.

Most likely will be looking at used good-condition for money reasons. I'm not opposed to looking at new ones, but I really don't think we can afford that route. As far as Vintage, I hadn't given that any thought yet.

Definitely sounds like it would be worth a drive. Thanks for the info!

X2 for JD Sanders. Was there Sat to Pick up my trailer from service. They had most everything from Base Camp up. I think there were a couple of used as well. Good opportunity to see the various floor plans.

As per your and n2916s' suggestion, chatting with the wife about going up there next weekend to look around... make a day trip out of it. Besides, the Russell Stover chocolate factory is along the way, and I'm sure she wouldn't mind stopping there!

Thanks!

Welcome RabbitDude, Make sure she's on board before you do anything. You can rent a cabin at a pet friendly rv. park. If that was a positive experience, then start looking on Craigslist, or Onecraigs for pricing. Visit a dealer to get a certain feel, look, or design you like. Like love, you will know it the minute you see her. Remember... shopping is half the fun. Good luck.

Are you aware of Land Yacht Harbor? It is an Airstream park on John Rodes Blvd, south of Eau Gallie Boulevard. They have a community center with a bulletin board where members post items, including trailers, for sale. We bought our Safari 25 from an ad there three years ago.

Anybody know offhand why the "no pets" policy at Land Yacht Harbor? Just curious.
