Is this corrosion issue just with the CCD's or all Airstreams? Also, did the issue get corrected or is it an issue with all models after '99? I thought I had read somewhere that the issue was just the CCD's from '99-'03.

If Airstream says they corrected the problem, then they are admitting that it was a problem. I thought it was everything after 1999.

Very nice. With something that size (32. Squarestream'), I wouldn't have to worry about putting my stuff in storage. I could just tow it with me.

You also wouldn't fit into the sites at a lot of state & national parks! Some have size limitations...

Hey from Georgia... Myra,

I would opt for no less than a 24' Airstream with a 3/4 ton tow vehicle if I was going fulltime.

A 1986 Airstream Tradewind 24' long, comfortable, and everthing but the airconditioner works on 12 V.

The tow vehicle is the most important consideration.

Your tow vehicle can be a 1/2 ton bases gas V8 (5.0 or above) engine, but only if you travel in the flat lands. Any serious medium or large moutians requires a 3/4 ton tow vehicle with a diesel engine.

You'll love the Airstream, hate the initial costs of the diesel, until you try towing the airstream up hill.

I'm partial to Tradewinds so I'm not going to argue that one . . . and although lots of people have given you advice to go even bigger, I'd at least consider a 22' Trailer, like a Safari.

I believe this 22' Safari is being lived in full time. He might be someone you should contact as a resource, it seems like he's been living, traveling and working in his trailer for about a year: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f321...ari-15592.html

Maybe you could talk him out of his trailer - I for one would love to see him transform another Airstream into a work of art.

Well, I sent him a note and asked him if he'd like to pass along the legacy, but I'd say he's pretty attached to her. I wish I knew how to fix stuff like that. He created a real piece of art with that little trailer. Some days I want a trailer so bad it hurts.

I hope you found a place to stay. Not sure if you are still looking at Airstreams, but this one popped up on eBay and seems like a reasonable deal. Perhaps a tad small, but maybe not if there's just you and the furballs.

You really need to see the layouts, that will help alot. I prefer separate living and sleeping areas, especially on an extended trip.

.....as far as how much room does a girl need? My wife asked a while back if could remodel her bedroom closet into a module she could just unplug from the house an plug into Christine, that would make it easier for her! lol

Lots of shoes isn't just a girl thing. We have many outdoor hobbies and it seems like each requires uniques shoes. Between my wife and I we have 3 bicycles and 3 pairs of shoes to go with them. Then there is hiking, river rafting, fly fishing, cold and warm weather walking around, well you get the picture. I need to build a special rack to hold all of our shoes; I am still working on the design. Right now they are in one of the outside compartments, just rolling around.

We like to pride ourselves on how little we back (former backpackers), but the shoes are our downfall.

Back to point, 25' is a good size; there are two of us and we could easily full time in ours, especially if we used commercial campgrounds with plugins and connections for city water.

Drive down Hwy 85 to Trailers For Less. I haven't stopped, but the owner has an Airstream and he may have it for sale. It is inside the fence next to the highway. I use them for my annual bearing repacks.

Even if it isn't for sale or if you have your heart set on new (nothing wrong with that) it will give you an idea about some layouts.

BTW, I live off of New Hope Road.

i had a 2000 bambi that i towed with a 2000 tundra. i put over 75,000 miles on it and loved it. but a 19' bambi might be a bit small for full timing. oh, i'm a single guy with one dog. i now have a 2003 23' int that i tow with a 2002 tundra and have over 130,000 miles on it [the two always go together ]. obviously i'm an airstream/tundra guy, it works good for me. my motto is '' bigger is not better''.
