Hoping for a little guidance

I am hoping for a little guidance as I am not finding any helpfull info on the internet. We have an airstream we had hopes of restoring, but that is simply not going to be in our budget and therefore we are going to sell it. But i do not have any clue as to what to ask for in its current condition. It is 20' not including the tongue. The plate on it reads Model #47-9 serial # 1023 Built by Wallace M. Byam. Made in Metropolitan Las Angeles, CA. The trailer is completely gutted but the shell is in good shape. Front window is out, most side windows are intact. Any help or direction I could get before I post this on craigslist would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

beauty

wow. I love those. I hope it finds another happy home.

As a buyer, I'd start with the basics -

1. does it roll? Are the wheels in need of replacement? Axle?

2. does it leak? Most likely yes, but how badly, and how much damage because of the leaks?

3. what could I do with it? renovate the trailer for camping? Shine it up, leave it gutted, and stick in in a movie background? Make the world's coolest food trailer and serve a retro menu?

I say all this because these trailers only seem to be worth what someone will pay. If it rolls, I'd pay you up to a couple grand and tow it away, based solely on the beautiful structure of the shell. In fact, I wish I had that money to offer you, but I don't, so I won't. but good luck.

Are you sure you want to part with it? You could always use it to dry camp as a hard shell tent!

Thanks Shane and a special thank you to the seller for the priviledge of purchasing this trailer and restoring it to it's former glory.
They are a very nice couple who I now consider friends.

I'll need to ask the mods to create a section for it as there is no spot for a 1947 liner.
I do know that they started production in May of 1947 with s/n #1001 and by June #1007 was built and by August they had ramped up production because #28 had been built and #49 was off the line by Oct. Thsi one is #23 so probably built in either July or August that year. They built 90 that year. It is gutted inside so finding out what the interior layout was will be difficult as they offered the 22ft liner in 7 different layouts each with a specific name for each layout

Thanks for the link Shane. I'vee bookamrked for later reference. The sellers will be sending me some more pictures and I'll compare what I see to that. Airstream has one layout that looks like that link on it's website. According to what else I've seen there are 7 different layouts though so no telling for sure what this one was originally. There might be some traces left on the interior skins that will reveal some clues.
