I am not sure if this is the proper place for me to post this inquiry, but here goes. We have a 1972 Airstream Ambassador LY. It has the number 21398 and has a faded sticker with caravanas de Mexico on it. I am trying to find out some history on our trailer and if it was indeed one of the trailers that was included in this Mexico caravan in 1972. Anyone who could provide me with more info on our unit, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for your help
Marian

I checked through my collection of directories and can find no indication that the member with that number participated in a caravan in Mexico.
However, the number was reissued sometime between 1970 and 1982 and my collection of directories is incomplete. The member that had the number in 1982 does not appear to have been in Mexico on a caravan.
Maybe someone else on these forums that would have a WBCCI Directory in the mid to late 70's could check for you and provide you with some info that may help.

Good luck in your search.
1969 Directory has Alden Goodwin from Great Falls, MT, first year of issuance
1974 Directory has Gerald Spencer from Sedona, AZ
Apparently the number 21398 has traveled more than the Airstream with the faded number.
If someone has a 1971 to 1973 directory they can check to see if the Goodwins still owned the trailer and if they actually went on a Caravan to Mexico. The 1970 directory shows them not going on a Caravan.
Many Airstream owners went to Mexico as individuals without "the Caravan" experience. One of the owners may have been "loners" or may have traveled with a small group of friends.
1971 listed to the Goodwins in Montana.
1973 Listed to Gerold Spencer from Rockford Illinois. It looks like the Spencers got tired of the Illinois winters and moved to Sunny Arizona. Sounds like a good idea. There are no listings of any WBCCI Mexican Caravans for either of these couples.
If you like this stuff you might be interested in my recent thread on my 62 Ambassador and the 63-64 WBCCI world tour. The data I found was from WBCCI but mostly the forums.

Airstream Directory!! That's what I need.
I stumbled on to your post as I was just now wondering where to turn to get some history on my 65 Overlander. #8510. On the side it says, Roy and Doris Reese, Seattle, WA.
I bought it a few years ago in Coeur d'Alene, ID, and have just started the repar and restoration.

It is Roy & Doris Reed not Reese who had that number years ago.My directories do not list any caravans for the Reeds. They had a Seattle address in my 1968 Directory and in later years (1982) they had an address in Olympia WA at the Land Yacht Harbour.
Thank you, Bridgewater:
You must be right--I checked this evening, and the faded paint no doubt says Roy and Doris Reeds. I hope make them proud with the fix-up and good times I plan to have.
I have been out there trying to strip off the dirty painted-over vinyl interior tonight.
My wonderful wife grew up in the Virginia burbs, never camping; our boy, just 15 mo. now, will discover the outdoors; this trailer is the answer.
Wish me luck, Rivet Masters!
if you don't have a AS with a WBCCI number, is there any way to track a 72 overlander
To the best of my knowledge the short answer would be no...unfortunately.You would have to get in contact with the previous owner(s) or their family members if possible.
