Hi there

I started reading the vintage tow vehicle thread and it inspired me to sign up.
I have a 57 IH S112 that needs restored before it can tow anything but it will be purpose built to be a toy hauler of sorts. Starting with the adaptation of a 90s F-Superduty suspension, I will create a DRW pickup. It will receive a DT360 diesel and an eaton 6speed od trans. This will make repairs easy and the overal truck overbuilt for anything I'd use it for.

One day when my IH is finished I've been thinking of building a custom 37' Airstream fifth wheel. It would have a small garage area in back for my Indian +1 and enough room to sleep 4+ people. It would make a great ralley rig or just get outta town for a month.

Wow

That sounds very cool. I just saw a restored vintage GMC tractor trailer. I'm gonna look up your truck.

It's possible to have too much truck. A heavy duty truck can have suspension that is too stiff for a trailer.

I hope to install air ride, similar to what's on semis, at some point. It will be a very long and invested project but very worth it.

Here's a pic you can even see my Indian in the background
