Hi! "new" 1967 Safari International owner

Hello! Just wanted to introduce myself and say Hi!

We just bought a 1967 Safari International. We are very excited about taking our 4 little boys camping in "Eleanor" soon... We just have a bit of work to do!

The interior was actually very complete and passable. But, I love interior design (and am a historic preservationist... longhand for "perfectionist") so of course, I immediately spent hours searching through vinyl, laminate, fabrics, etc. for the project. The turquoise reminds me of a Tiffany's box!

Husband is actually more interested in fixing the frame first. Imagine that! We noticed while buying it that we had a bit of slumping in the back. Steven got underneath and found the frame has been repaired before, and broke again. We are dragging out the welder to get that sturdied up.

Once we get it done, I am hoping to tow it behind my 1963 Rambler wagon. That might be next summer though...

I will be throwing pictures of our project up on the blog I maintain for our stone cottage renovation.. so if anyone is interested, I can post a link once I get some pictures up!

Looking forward to chatting! I am sure I will have lots of questions for you all. I have already been bookmarking threads for reference.

We have 4 boys, too, though there all grown up (the youngest is 18). There's nothing like making memories and camping is a great way to do it. Your boys will remember their trips for the rest of their lives.

I have included pictures of "Eleanor" on my house blog... I plan to document our renovation on there. I already have completed the painting... up next, curtains, upholstery and flooring.

Always interested in pictures and diagrams. Right now, I am trying to figure out how the twin beds work. I think I am missing a cushion where the one has a slider that pulls out.

We purchased a 1966 Tradewind last fall and are enjoying camping big time! Im looking for all sorts of 60s items to accessorize her interior. I also pulled out all the foam cushions and mattresses and curtains and made brand new ones. Post pics of everything you do, streamers with the same vintage trailers love to see pics of what everyone is up to in their trailers! Looking at your blog and how you guys love restoring things you will fit right in here!

The cushion that fits in that spot also fits over the water tank cover were it is stored when the twin is closed up. Does that make sense?

Hmm... that makes sense. Previous owners threw out the water tank because it was cracked. We plan on replacing it. Right now there is just an empty space there. If someone could post pictures of what their's look like (with and without cushions), it might help me to see what we are missing.

Here is what it looks like with no cushions or board there. (I was priming the wood). I think maybe they cut something down??

Awesome! Thank you! I actually have the wood that goes on top of the beds, I should add. I removed them so I could paint them. Easier to do with it all taken apart.

The only picture I have handy with everything "put together" still is the ad the previous owner's put on Craigslist. But I thought it might be helpful to compare and see if we are "missing" any pieces. I think we might be just missing the cushion for the bed that slides out by the door. And I have to figure out how to get the water tank in there with the nightstand thing behind the table and between the beds.
