Hey Reiderno - cool unit you got! Hope you don't have to put your welding skills to work too much. I don't even want to open the belly of mine to see what lurks ... ignorance is bliss, right?

There's lots of info here --- use the Search function - google option - at the top of the page for anything Airstream related! I'm always amazed to find soooo much information and varied options.

The dragon is long gone! Deteriorated and fell into the river. A boyfriend from my past was an artist and helped construct the eggs/hatchlings - which were added years after the original dragon. I was able to see inside the dragon shell and even partied with the owner's wife one evening --- one that I won't forget because we ended up in a fairly odd establishment in Cocoa Beach that evening.

Here's a pic from it's glory days at Dragon's Point. We used to water ski around there when I was a teen and looking for a picture sure brought back some memories!

Greetings from Central Virignia!

Welcome to a whole new fetish! My BF (whi is also a welder/machinist and I both jumped into this "hobby" just this year...and we are enjoying it more and more! We bought a 31' 1975 Excella 500 and have thus far:

-re-welded the stabilizers as someone had used them to jack up the trailer and they were really weak and bent

- replaced the Suburban furnace,

-blown out all the plumbing (all the pipes were full of rust and debris...bad water hookup at some point?),

-scrubbed the inside walls from end to end (what I thought was yellow-beige wallpaper turned out to be a wonderful off-white linen after I got all the cigarette grease and mildew off!) with Simple Green (forum suggestion that worked wonders...),

-shampooed the original gold velvet sofa and it looks brand-new,

-rebuilt the motor on the power jack,

-and countless little fixes on exterior lights and other gizmos.

You'll need a fast connection to the internet to really get into the forum at length (I am eternally frustrated by being on modem for this!) but the answers to virtually any problem can be found in this forum...so enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!
Susan

Sunny, but rainy Florida, at least some parts of it, according to some friends.

Welcome to Airstreaming.

The first huge step in refurbing, is to get the trailer weatherproof.

Check all the exterior gaskets, including the sewer vent pipe cover gaskets.

Once it's water tight, you can move ahead with the refab, as your time and budget allows.

It's easier to ask questions here, if you have any doubt of what or how to do any part of it, before you spend your time and money.

Andy
