Hello There
we are looking to buy an Airstream Motorhome
24ft - LPG
Does anyone know if they exist running on lpg -
Also - with the government over here skinning us all with the cost of fuel -
the engine needs to be as small as poss.
Also - we need to ship to the UK
Anyone any ideas ?

I would suggest you check Craiglist. I would look in major cities and see what you can come up with. I usually go to google and type in Airstream motor home + craiglist and the search engine will search the whole country. I really do not know about engine size, but I am sure you can get it changed over to LPG with a conversion kit.

Airstream motorhomes are rare in the 24' size. The standard engine was a gas powered Chev 454 cubic inch, that is over 8 L. None came with smaller engines, but a small number of AS motorhomes did have a diesel from the factory. I have no idea if any of the rare 24' ones came with a diesel.

The Argosy motorhomes built from '73 to '78 were common in the 24' size. They also had a 454 gas engine, and no diesels. A very few 20' Argosy's were made with a 350 cu in engine, again rare.

I don't believe that any were factory propane powered.

I doubt that a smaller engine would give you any better fuel economy in these units.

You are looking at units which are at least 30 years old now, most will need very significant work on them. Some parts are not even easy to find here in the States, and are going to be more difficult to locate/install etc in England. Are you sure this is a project you wish to take on?

I had an experience with a shipper who pretended to have an Airstream just to get confidence and he did not own one..
so it is nice if you are an Airstream Owner yourself..
One day..if I can find employment .. we may ship again..

Minnesotan combine Olde Englishe, American English, various Scandinavian dialects and mix well. It does sound surprisingly good to the ear even if hard to understand. Part of the fun of traveling is listening to all y'alls accents. Its even more fun to pick up bits and pieces and bring them home. The locals (fill in any region of North America) find it puzzling trying to figure out where I am from. LOL
