Hi from a former lurker!

I figured I better stop lurking, so I made an account, and figure that I better get you used to my name, because I'm sure I'm going to have hundreds of questions!

In a couple of months, my husband and I intend to purchase a vintage Airstream, whether it needs a lot of work or not, and make it into the home of our dreams!

We're still deciding on what is the perfect size for us, but I'm already very partial to the pre 1968 years because of the shiny shiny, and being lighter to tow works for us too!

Ideally, we'll take only a few years to finish it, at which point, we'll be able to take it anywhere, on grid or off for a few weeks, so right now, not only am I researching models, floor plans, how to's on skin off repair, flooring, polishing etc, I also am looking on how to make this into a home that we can spend our remaining years together in and be happy doing it.

So at this point, I'm still not certain if I'm in the restore or renovate camp, and really don't think I will be until we find ours and see it. I'm a lover of vintage, and already have a small collection of vintage pyrex, so my husband is no stranger to the idea of living completely retro... but we do also like our sleek modern finishes, so it really depends on what our stream tells us to do which way we go.

But we're looking at adding solar down the line, swapping out the black tank for a grey tank instead and using a compost toilet, and making a lovely home to spend the rest of our lives in, wherever we want to go!

I'm sure you'll see me around in the threads soon, I've definitely been following them!

Welcome, you won't be green long. the right one will come along soon. And if that's not the right one another one will catch your eye.

Kind of addictive they are. Next thing you know you'll be speeding up on a highway to catch what you learn to be a shiny milk truck.
