Here I go!

I have been reading and studying everything on the forum for weeks. Anyway, I bought a 1982 AS International 31'. I thought that I got an AMAZING deal but as it turns out, what I got is a lesson in total floor and frame rebuild. thank goodness there is a wealth of information on here. That info has put me WAY ahead of the game really. The trailer that I got was gutted already (for the most part) there was 2 floors ... lol 1 3/4" PT and the remainder of the 2nd 5/8 floor. I knew that there was "some" rust in the tail ... (since it didnt have a belly in the rear) but I had no idea about the rest of the frame. I do now .... I will post pics and share my adventure with all of you.

The way my Airstream was designed is this: Any leaks in the body is channeled to run quitely down to the plywood floor and rots it out where it's structurally important, then the banana panels and the belly pan cleverly directs the water to the mouse eaten fiberglass insulation inside the belly pan, where it turns into pink wet muck without any air movement so it stays wet and rusts out the frame.

Eastern South Dakota is very pretty with hills, rivers, and trees.

Ben there done that!

I'm still looking for a newer air stream, but the 1st trailer I purchased last year was a 1958 Seista ( Canned Ham ) cute as a button, but It was trurely a learning experience, with lots of surpises!I bought off E-Bay site unseen, now willn't do that again!
