1983 33' Silver Streak Travel Trailer Ready to Go! (hyperlink removed because the ad is no longer available)

Yes, I know you don't want anything but A/S. Well, I've come across plenty of ideas from other manufacturers, so I hope you look at ALL available aluminum-tube trailers as they were marketed to the same crowd. Some pics of interiors can go a long way to getting what you want.
I looked at this one Friday ... and bought it. Even though it's a foot shorter than a similarly laid out A/S I looked at last weekend, it felt much more spacious, and with a lot more light inside. It's in very good condition inside and out, with only a few small cosmetic problems inside. Of course, living in it will reveal much more to me, and I still expect to change some things to suit my needs ... but the trailer just felt right for me.

It's going to be delivered tomorrow. I plan on living in it for a while to get a feel for the space and its systems before considering any remodeling projects. I am really happy and excited about it!

Hey, Sunni! Congratulations! (We are all heretics in someone's book, so don't loose any sleep over it.)

God luck with it!

My son and I were looking at some of the pictures at the Madison newspaper web site, especially the Lake Delton mess, since we've been there many times. Devastating is right. Glad to hear you made it through okay; and I hope the worst of the storms are behind for you!

Thank you, TBRich! No worries about me losing sleep over this; I'm used to being considered weird by many people.

You know, the oddest thing came over me as I was looking over the S/S ... I don't want to keep it parked. Yes, I do plan to live in it still, but I want to travel with it too! I've done a bit of camping in AZ, in the Parker/Quartzsite area, and would love to go back ... all in good time, I suppose!

Glad you found one. And you've found the mailing list for S/S. Between there and here one can, I think, find most answers that will be available specific to this trailer type.

Would that be okay? I did a couple of searches on Silver Streak here, and found few results, other than this thread. Since it's an Airstream forum (and keeping in mind the comment that Rednax's first mention of other aluminum TTs got on this thread), I was thinking it was time for me to politely bow out of here ...

But if there's a place where such content is welcome, I'd love to contribute ... I've already gotten so much out of this place, I'd really like to add value for others.

Maybe a moderator will speak up, and advise me on these matters.

Hi Sunni,

There is already a forum for that, the Vintage Kin Forum (Vintage Kin - Airstream Forums).

You're not getting away that easy. We still want to see pictures! You are one of us now.

Yes, I have a confirmed case of aluminitis now. I'm supposed to be writing a newsletter today, but all I've been doing is reading those threads and looking out the window at my silver beauty.

I would like to document my adventures with the S/S, but that means that my first step needs to be buying a camera. Maybe if I make that my reward for getting the writing done, I'll do it faster!

Well, I have the camera, but the excuse (very weak) that I don't yet know how to post pics. Guess I should take some first. Will be hauling mine out of storage at months end and moving it back to the house to work on the 101 small things.

I've been hoping to see the owners of other trailer brands on the Vintage Kin sub-forum, so I guess we'll both have to get cracking to help build interest. There are some great contributors around here (as you've likely already seen on some of the long, involved trailer renovation threads), and I've had several nicely supportive PM's about the S/S trailer.

Did you get the trailer that was one-family owned? That is often a best bet if both generations shared a concern for it.

Also, FYI: I scaled mine an hour after I bought it and it weighed (empty) right at 6,820-lbs. Travel weight is below.

Where does one start? Even though I like my S/S quite a lot as is, the wall paneling is rather dark, and has started to peel in various places ... but to remove it looks like I'd need to remove all the cabinetry, etc. And that gets me into "uninhabitable" territory pretty quicklike ...

It's a deal.

Yes, I did. And yes, the son had used the S/S for several trips after it was handed down to him ... and reported as he was driving it to our house that he was thinking back on all the good times in it and starting to rethink selling it! But he has his own dream/adventure he wants to follow, and it doesn't have a place for travel trailers in it, so he kept driving. He made some nice improvements to it (replacing the batteries with golf-cart batteries hooked in series), and has suggested some further ones to me, which I intend to follow up on as soon as I understand better what'll be best for accomplishing them.
