Question Help!

I am here trying to find some information for a friend. They own an Airstream and don't know much about it. I will give you as much information as they gave me and maybe someone can give me something to tell them about it. Okay here goes..It says... Curtis Wright Industries Aircraft & Travel...Model 1..Serial # 0416..Los Angelos, CA>.....I think they are wanted to know the year model and maybe where to find items to remodel it..Any help would be appreciated....

Hello -- and welcome to the Forums! Curtis Wright trailers were not built by Airstream but have other similarities in terms of shell construction. You can use the search function to read through other threads that mention Curtis Wright. I would say these Forums are the broadest source for restoration information on this type of construction. Unless maintained with inside storage and special care I suspect this would be a major rebuild.

I won't say that Vintage Airstream's Price vs. Condition page is fully applicable to your situation but it might be a place to start. I just threw 'Curtis Wright trailer' into a Google search field and got a lot of returns. If you come up with a ballpark figure, throw any proposed sale back on these Forums and see what interest you might drum up. Fixing it up might diminish the value if not done with a good sense of what your friend has.

Hi:

I'm familiar with Curtis Wright Industries, Inc. models 2 (1946) and 5 (1947), but I've never seen, heard or read anything about their model 1. Could you please post some photos if it? Photos will help put it in context. Is it made of aluminum or masonite? Sorry I can't be of much help, but that's a pretty obsecure trailer they have.

Yes, photos please. Being an Aircraft mechanic, I would love to see a TT made by an Aircraft company.
Cheers,
Baron

Same question, year?

There is a Curtis Wright on Ebay now, model #2, 1947, 16ft.

Perfect timing, I hope "sweet75482" does not mind sharing the thread. I have the same question about this trailer I bought and will pick up tomorrow.
Model 5, 22ft, Serial #: 8060

What year is this trailer below? I hope to see title, but may be unobtainable. The body is in great shape, no major dents, inside has all the parts, but what do I know. I believe it is a 1948, based on other 1947 pictures with less windows.

The trivia question.... How many trailers did Curtis Wright produce? And, was Wally Byam involved at the time of production, or did they split apart forming the separate companies?

I need one of these glass globes for the propane lamp.
