Hello, new to this list

Just wanted to intro myself.
I own a '72 31' rear bath International Sovereign which I have had for about 6 years. I am refurbishing it to live in after my house sells (if that ever happens!) I have never towed it, so I will probably have some NOOB towing questions as time goes on.
Tow vehicle is a 2005 Dodge Ram Quad-Cab SLT long bed Diesel. Manual 6 speed with overdrive. No hitch yet. Still figuring that one out. I would like to have a Hensley...but ouch on the price!
I'm 50, newly single, retired from the Marine Corps and currently working as a Police Officer. Just me and my dog Maverick, so all I will really need to live in is the 'Stream.
I am on several other lists, so hopefully it won't take me too long to figure out the etiquette here.
Best regards,
Steve L

Welcome to the forums!

You are not too far from a bunch of us - check out the Falluminum thread somewhere in here; a fall event in N. Georgia (this time). We have a group generally from the southeast.

Sounds like your tow vehicle will do the job. I use a Hensley as you mention - it is absolutely terrific, but I know there are other manfacturers out there that people rave about as well.

Anyway, this is a great place to get good information. Welcome!

Semper Fi.

I have parking for former Marines here at the vinyard. Get a hitch ( you don't need no Hensley) and stop by for a Devil Dog! DG HMM-263

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

We are both retired Federal Agewnts and former city PD officers. My father was a China Marine (1912-1915).

Hey Steve,

Welcome to the Forums! You'll find the answer to just about any question that you may have about Airstreams. Use the search and if you don't find it there, start a new thread and someone will have the answers.

I'm with ya on the 'newly single' scene. Just happened to me too .

Have fun here!!!

Hey Marine!

Welcome, we are redoing an AS also ( 85 Sov. 27 ). It is a very interesting experience. This site is like Airstream University, when our AS's are done we have graduated. I was Air Force, not exactly military but very close. LJH

Hello Steve, and welcome! You will enjoy this forum. Hubby and I are new here as well and find it to be very helpful and informative.
Earl is retired Richmond, Ca. police dept. Was a K-9 officer and Sgt. Had a wonderful German Shepherd and said the best part of his career was with Caesar. Is Maverick a Shepherd? We have Shepherds and it's so great to be able to travel with them. Earl is also retired military...Air Force as well as Army Reserve. Welcome and enjoy!

Earl and Shirley (Hogg)*

* Try being a cop with a name like that, especially during roll call!

I have a good friend with the same last name, but they pronounce it Hoag with a very long 'O' , (like hoe) although they spell it like you do!

Maverick is a mongrel. His mother was a Mastiff (which I owned and is now dead). She was gotten to while she was in heat and I am not sure but think that Mavericks dad is a black lab. He looks like a black lab with a stocky body and a blocky head like a Mastiff. I wouldn't trade him for any pure breed!
I am a cop in an Air Force town. Just outside of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Get kidded a lot about being a Marine.
Regards,
Steve L
