We're flying up to Houston tomorrow. Should be doing the walk through thing on our new 27FB Monday morning.

Still haven't solved how we're going to get the AS from Houston up to Dallas next week, but we'll figure something out.

U-Haul is still an option.

Rich & Tracy,

Welcome to the forums. We have found the site to be an excellent source of AS information. We used the information on the site to replace our Skylight, and the step by step information made the installation easy.

We are loooonnnnggggg time campers, starting the normal route with tent camping, have been RVing for 15 years (MH, trailers) and made the leap to AS 4 years ago.

You need to think about what type of camping you will be doing, length of trips... etc. We get a lot of use from our rig, doing several long weekends throughout the year, and a couple of long trips each year. We are really happy with our Safari 25 SS.

We have met some great folks through the forums, and are looking forward to the Crawfish Rally (look at the Rally Schedule) in June.

Good hunting.....

Hi Rich and Tracy, We got our 2008 16' International CCD in December 2010 from Steve at Bayer RV in Dublin TX -- just south of Stephenville. We got a really deal.

Good luck.

The trip from Houston to Dallas is 3-4 hrs. Ought to be someone heading that way, maybe the dealer has some contacts.

Hello Rich and Tracy!

I'm in Dallas, too.
If I come across a good lead, I will pass it on to you.

Hello! I'm not far from Dallas. We recently bought a '65 off of craigslist, but I had more luck looking on the OKC area than Dallas. I'm not much help, usually I'm asking questions .

I haven't been able to go camping for a few years now since I moved from Indiana.
There was a beautiful forestry in southern Indiana I loved.

We are hoping to take more long trips with friends and take our motorcycles.
We do a bit of riding and it can be hard to find a decent motel room.

We have a trip through Colorado planned here in a few weeks.
I am excited to climb pikes peak on my old bike.

Hope to use the camper as a home base on long trips and maybe even a hauler if I can fit the bike through the door

Yes, we have called about two or three Airstreams that have shown up on craigslist.

But nobody has called us back. ???

We'll figure something out. If I have to buy a used tow vehicle to just sit parked next to the trailer for ten months a year, that might be the thing we do.

Thanks David

Guess I could offer a commission on a lead that works out well.

Welcome Rich and Tracy! As you have seen, the forums folks can provide you with a wealth of info. New vs old is probably an age old debate. (And will never be settled). We recently bought a 1984 and continue to be amazed at how well everything works. Camped in it the night we bought it. There are good ones out there. And to help you decide, scroll down to the rallies section of the forums and check out the info on the Vintage Rally in Glen Rose (near Dallas) 12 thru 16 May. The unit I am in, Highland Lakes, is hosting and we should have a wide assortment of Vintage and new Airstreams attending. At least 75 I have heard. Come on down and check it out. Might help you guys make up your mind.
ps I saw in the local paper that there was a rally near us down here in Corpus several months back, Skye and I drove over, and well...now we are Streamin!

Yes, we had that problem too, and several spam/cons. And several, "Oh yeah, there's no leaks, floors solid, etc". Then we go to look and the front window is busted with mold all down the front. :P
I got a craigslist app and set it to search Dallas, OKC, Tulsa, and several other areas relatively close. We ended up considering several and finally purchasing one from OK. The good ones just moved too fast in Dallas! Good luck and I'll keep an eye out as well. I saw one north of Paris the other day but I didn't get any info on it.
