Hello - from UK, looking for AS
Hello to all.
I,m new to this ( be gentle with me), and hoping to buy my first Airstream and ship over to the UK.
But would like to do a bit more research first, can anyone reccommend any technical/reference books I should be looking for.
Steve

welcome..
I'd first start reading in the forums about interior/exterior repairs, or what to look for in an Airstream (flooring, appliances, etc). We've got a book overhere, (RVing for dummies) that's not Airstream specific, but is a good overview of how RV systems work.
Forum member Richard T has sent some Airstreams overseas. You might want to PM him what you're looking for and he might even have it in stock!
Good Luck!
Marc

if you have an Ipod - (or you can download to your computer), "the Vintage Airstream Podcast" or http://thevap.com will broadcast on Feb 2nd about your basic trailer systems.
Good show to listen too!

Thanks for that Marc
I,ll give the podcast a go and get in touch with Richard T when i,ve narrowed my search down a bit.
What should I be looking out for condition wise, which models are best, I like the late 60,s early 70,s best. And I don,t mind doing some restoration, ideally if I get one i,m going to rip out the interior and redo it to a modern standard.
Are there any pitfalls.
thanks
Steve

Hello Stuart,
Looe Cornwall eh, like it down there usually come down in the summer to our friends who live in Fowey.
Next time we,re down i,ll look you up.
Does it work out best to ship from the states compared to some of the other sites i,ve seen in Europe. Some of them in Europe seem really pricy.

Welcome to the forum. England used to be one of my favorite places to visit but after our last flight we vowed only to travel where our Airstream can get us. Maybe I can ride inside your Airstream as it crosses the pond.
A good resource on vintage Airstreams is the VAC or Vintage Airstream Club. They have a web page.

Hey Steve,
welcome to the forums!! We bought our 1971 Ambassador from Richardt and everything really worked out great! Richardt is a very nice and helpful guy to work with!
We are now into redoing the interior of our TT which is a lot of work... We bought our trailer in the US and shipped it to Germany, after we saw the prices overhere. It saved us about 2.000-3.000 Euros, but you buy by picture so there is nearly no chance to inspect the trailer.
If you have the chance to look at trailers in the UK or Europe, do as many trailers as you can. Every Trailer you have seen will help you to find the best trailer for your needs and skills.
Search at the forums to know what you should look for when you inspect and ask as many questions as possible (here on the forums or to any Airstreamer you can get).
This is a great community and you´ll find many new friends and even more help here. If you have question ask them, if you have question to us, send us a PM or email us through the forums.
All the best for your search and again - welcome!!
Steffi and Bjoern
