Hello from SC

Hello all, I'm Andrew from South Carolina. I'm thinking about finding a 60s era Tradewind, and am trying to research them to see if they would suit my needs. One generic question: I'm 6'5" tall. Can I even stand up in these things or should I forget about it? Thanks

Hello Andrew, I can't answer your question, but I know where you can probably get a straight answer....come to Alumalina , October 22-25. 125 or so Airstreams, lots of knowledge.

Alumalina Fall 2015, here on the forums.

And welcome aboard, from a fellow South Carolinian.

Recon 35, welcome. We're in Lake Wylie, SC. Good luck on your search. If I'm not mistaken the classic that we have on order, the interior height is just a little over 6'4". I don't know what the interior height would be on the one you are searching for. I'm sure that someone will chime in with that information for you.

Thanks for the replies. I live in Six Mile, not too far from Clemson University. I've only just begun looking, and thought I'd best see if I can even FIT in one before spending too much time and energy...

Read somewhere about an NBA player that had the roof raised in his Airstream to accommodate his height.

Just went out and measured our '73. It's exactly 6'5" floor to ceiling down the center-line of the trailer. You'll have to duck to get thru the interior doors and around the air conditioner. Looks like you'll havta duck most of the time.

Jim

Try wearing a negative heel shoe. That should give you more room.

I just had a thought(I know scary) about bed length. Could that be an issue for happy campers 6ft plus?

at 6'2" I have plenty of 'head room' except right under the bow roof vent.. and AC there is a light hanging beneath. both are around 6'4".

Ours is a 1999, 'wide body'... and 34' long. the bed is 73" long... with a couple more inches to spare at the head.. either way I sleep, I have my feet hang over a bit..or curl up..
