Hello from Newbie

Hello, we are completely new to trailer camping and have just bought a 1994 Excella in great ondition which has just had one trial campout weekend before getting winterized. It's kind of driving me nuts to have this great Airstream and then have to put it away for the winter. Hopefully, retirement won't be too far off and we can make more use of it.

We found this forum is a great source of information and seems to be a great community. Thank you all for what we've learned already. We have a lot to learn, and hopefully we can contribute to the knowledge base eventually. Right now we're still trying to figure out what is WBCCI (and why there is some lawsuit), what is VAC, TAC... (Told you we were completely new to this stuff)

We've done lots of wilderness canoe camping and have rented RVs in Alaska and New Zealand, but towing a trailer is all new to us.

Airstreaming is a great way to travel, and all the Airstream folks I have met in person have been really great folks. I hope you don't let the politics of the various clubs color your opinion of other Airstreamers and groups too much.

The WBCCI is the oldest Airstream club, founded by the guy who started the company. The VAC is the Vintage arm of that club. The TAC is a new club that is forming for low-key get-togethers. Many people use the forum to arrange get-togethers outside of any club - we just go camping together, pull picnic tables together and have a potluck and sit around the fire. There are lots of options for camping alone or camping with friends (even friends you haven't met yet).

Enjoy your new toy!

Welcome to the fun of owning an Airstream. I had to look up the location of Jesup and it seems you are about 145 miles west of us. That makes us practically neighbors.

Putting the AS away for the winter after only one use is a bit hard, but now you'll have about five months to plan all of your outings for next summer.

Look forward to seeing you around a campfire some day.
