Yes, we're familiar with restorations as we started with a complete rebuild of 1963
Shasta Compact. I thought it was going to be the perfect little trailer since we previously only camped boondock style but then we started attending rallys and discovered she was too little unfortunately that was after thousands of hours of work. :P we recently sold her and then upsized to our 16' trailer. I was convinced I wouldn't miss not having a shower but after a year camping in it I knew I did want a shower so we started the hunt again.
There are pros and cons to all the different make/models of trailers but since I know it HAS to be vintage I know there's going to be a lot of work involved...I just wish I had started with the right one to begin with.
On the positive side, since our driveway confines us to about 26' I know we won't be upsizing yet again and so this will be our last trailer that we'll be putting so much time and energy into.
I'm sorry that you didn't pop over GAT, I'm finding that I like that the local airstreamers are so much more plentiful than the Shasta group, we even discovered that someday59 is less than a mile from us.
kevinb, yes, we like that bench style toilet despite its inherent difficulties...that leg space is a luxury when you've been forced into a 1' sq box! haha We would enjoy seeing your shasta (what year?) and airstream in person...even though I've looked at all the archive pics, it's the only way to truly know the space.
