Hello from Beautiful British Columbia!
I am a new member on the forums & I am impressed with the wealth of knowledge & the friendly nature of everyone on here.
My wife & I recently found an ad in our local Craigslist for an Airstream Argosy and pounced on the opportunity as we were the first to call the retired gentleman (Don) who was selling it. When I went to look at it with my 7 year old son, it was covered up with a trailer cover and the batteries had been removed for winter storage. It was just getting dark & we had to look at it with a flashlight, which made it difficult to get an accurate idea of the condition of the trailer.
As we left I asked Don if I could make a deposit on it to hold it, but assured me that I was the first in line and he would hold it for me if I wanted it. I took some pictures of the inside with my camera & then went home. When I got home I downloaded the pics onto my computer and was amazed at how nice it looked using the flash from the camera.
I called Don 2 days later & was heartbroken when he told me that he had decided to keep the trailer for use as an extra room at his cabin. I thanked him for all his time & then (luckily) asked him to hold onto my number in case he changed his mind.
Don phoned me back a couple days later and made my day when he said he had decided to sell me the trailer & build a small outbuilding next to his cabin for use as an extra room. Needless to say I was ecstatic! Also during the days preceding Don's change of heart, he had received numerous calls from potential buyers who told him they were willing to show up at the same time as me and get into a bidding war with me over the trailer. Don told me he didn't need the money and he would honor his word and offer the me the trailer first if I still wanted it! (He was asking $5900 Canadian for a 29' 1987 Argosy in very nice shape)
I went to his place the next day during the daytime & he had removed the cover. It was even nicer than the pics had shown. I didn't haggle on price as it was obvious that it was worth more than he was asking, and also bought his electric power caster off of him for $250.
This was such an amazing buying experience & I am so happy to be the owner of a trailer with such an amazing pedigree. I currently only have a few pics available to post, as I have recovered the trailer.
I am wondering if there are any other AS owners in the Vancouver area of BC who I could talk with?

That's a nice looking Argosy. Welcome to the forums. My wife and I were just through BC last fall and it is, indeed, a beautiful place. Keep an eye out for forum member 'Fly at Night'. I believe she's from your neck of the woods.

Howdy and welcome to Airforums.com! We look forward to hearing about your adventure with your new trailer, and I am particularly interested in seeing what the interior looks like. I've never seen an Argosy like that one.
All the best, and keep the photos coming!

Hi everyone, thanks for the comments. I went outside to the AS and pulled back the cover enough to get into the trailer and take some pics. Enjoy!

Paul & Toni
Congrats and welcome to the forum. Your story reminds me of one of my favorite sayings: "some people would not know a good deal if it hit them in the side of the head". Wow! beautiful trailer. Good for you. You handled it the best way. Enjoy your new baby.
There is a musician by the name of Don that also runs an fm classical music station that has a similar Argosy, I believe. He is a real facinating guy. He knows a lot about the history of Airstream.
BC is on my bucket list.
