Wow, that is a great looking rig. And you are right, the Airstream community is chock full of folks who enjoy the hobby and enjoy helping others. I saw this in spades at the Rocky Mountain Vintage Airstream Rally in Ridgeway, Colorado, a couple of weeks ago.

Working in high heat is tough on a guy. I'm glad you got the bearings changed, brakes inspected and adjusted, and ready to tow. Did you have a driver, or rent one, to drive out the cup races in the drums? This can be the hardest job of a new bearing install.

Take it slow when you back into the driveway. Your trailer has "skids" welded under the frame rails in the back to help protect it. Yep, some 2x8s can work wonders to lift the wheels enough to gain clearance. My driveway is on a steep uphill angle and my 86 Limited 34' does scrap just a little bit.

The forum member had a punch that we used to drive out the races and yeah, replacing those is the hardest part of the job. I am so happy to have that whole job done.

We got the trailer backed in and it took us quite a while to do, but we were not in any hurry. We didn't have to use any boards. Instead, we just made sure we approached the slope at a pretty good angle. It took a couple of tries to get in without dragging and then a lot of back and forth to get the trailer lined up where we wanted it.

It could have gotten ugly real fast (you had me hangin' after those first text) as it wasn't initially clear if both were on board with the Airstream.

We recently purchased an AS, not completely on impulse, but sooner than planned because we just got hooked on them. We live close to Austin and have been enjoying vacationing in RV's for over 20 years. I wish we had gone with AS in the beginning! We absolutely love it...ease of towing, sturdy structure, BIG windows, etc. I hope you have as much joy in yours as we are having in ours!
