Allow me to add my own welcome from the Sportsman's Paradise, Louisiana.
I've stayed at Desoto State Park and at Meaher State Park so far, looking forward to visiting Monte Sano State Park when next my travels take me in that direction. But my favorite campground in Alabama so far was a Corps of Engineers campground on Lake Claiborne— the
other Lake Claiborne, as I call it, because Louisiana has a Lake Claiborne of our own— called Isaac Creek Park. Gotta love a campground that has 100% tree cover for the campsites on the creek side, and semi-private boat docks in the creek that are perfect for launching a kayak (if gators aren't using them as sundecks!). The clientele was very friendly, too. For the 4th of July that year, the fishermen staying at Isaac Creek Park got together, pooled their catches, and had a free fish fry for the whole campground! I ate well that day!
