Hello Forum!

It's great to be here. We just got our 1st trailer this past August and couldn't be happier. Amanda and I were tent campers for a long time, but with a six year old and countless set-ups and take-downs in the rain, camping had started to become too much of a chore. One of our tent camping buddies and I had started talking about Airstreams a couple of years ago and then last year he and his fiance got a beautiful '05 22' Safari. A couple of tent-camping-in-the-rain experiences later, and seeing Rick and Sandi driving away relatively dry, made me determined to seek out our own little slice of heaven.

I knew I wanted to go vintage. I knew I wanted two axles. And I also knew we couldn't go over 28'.

Airstream, Spartan, Boles, Vagabond, Shasta, Avion, Silver Streak, Curtis Wright, Palace...I loved them all! But the one thing Amanda and I both knew was that I have the mechanical IQ of a worm. So the search had to be narrowed down considerably to something that could be used immediately and without too much fuss.

Every other week I would present my latest "find"/"diamond-in-the-rough" to my smarter half. She would dutifully check it out, pat me on my head and say, "Come to bed, hon. It's getting late." Finally, I found one on ebay that not only got me excited but actually got Amanda excited! We established our go/don't go number, did some research on tow vehicles and pulled the trigger. A few breathless moments later it was confirmed that we were now the proud owners of Vintage Thunder! A '77 Argosy24, painted mistral blue with more bells and whistles than a little boy like me could ever hope for.

We immediately got a sponsor for the Region 1 Rally (thanks again, Earl), brought the guitar and a few cold Coors Lights and had a great time! Made a few more short trips in the area and then attended another truly fantastic "Youth" Rally in Vermont where we met up with some of our new friends and Rich Luhr (who some of you already know rescued our little Argosy and turned it into Vintage Thunder.)

So here we are Forum. Giddy little newbies with a beautiful blue Airstream. Thrilled to be part of the community with two more scheduled trips on the horizon before putting Thunder to bed for the winter.

Nice to meet you all!

Well, congratulations from a fellow Argosy 24 owner. I guess we all know what your trailer looks like. We love our Argosy too. Aren't they just the coolest Airstreams?

PICS?!? I can barely type. I promise all I will learn how to take/download/post pics just as soon as possible. They will never compare to the beauties I just saw on Rodney's site however.

Yes juel! They are definitely the coolest. I see yours has one more window on the curbside than ours. Don't you just love the windows?

Mel's photos are great! I'm definitely going to steal his idea of adding a stategically placed bottle opener now.

Thank you all for such a warm welcome!
