Hello fellow Airstreamers

This is the first of what will be many posts to the AS Forums. I've been following all of you (in the background) with admiration. And finally made the decision this past week to abandon fixed concrete living in Dallas, TX…reduce my overall financial foot print and purchase a 1996 34’ – hence the name TinCanW/6 after all…it does have 6 wheels. The adventure begins!

If all goes as planned…I take possession of TinCanW/6 Dec 25th that’s right…Christmas Day in West Memphis, AR. Aboard…my 4 year old son in the “wonderment, exploration and fun department” We’ll be up in around “The Colony” area as soon as the house sells! From there will be crisscrossing the State of Texas seeing all the great places the State has to offer when time permits.

Any suggestions/comments with respect to the plan are welcome…it’s all new to me…although I do have the benefit of growing up on a 34’ boat. I hope that experience helps.

Your growing up on a boat experience is going to help you a lot. Systems aboard are quite similar. Congratulations and best of luck.

*Today...new tires and shocks on the F250. I've purchased a spare wheel/tire for the AS. Bringing along tool box and 3 1/2 ton jack. Anything else I should consider?

My experience with towing boats paid off today. I can says that's the worst weather (land or sea) that I've had to navigate in a long time. I left Dallas 73 degrees, Memphis 42' woke up to 38 and plunging. An hour on the road 40 plus mile an hour winds broadside with heavy rain going sideways. This turned into a sloppy snowy mess at the Dallas county line were I began to count off wreaks. 20 all in all. 6 1/2 hours to Memphis 11 hours back....but all in one piece!

The wet test has passed with flying colors....she's dry as a bone inside,-

More wet testing

Congratulations! Merry Christmas!
More wet testing should be done while sitting still. Make sure to check around windows, in closets, under cabinets and around vent and AC areas.
It will be quite an adventure!
Good luck and have fun!!
