I am a new member and I am very interested in acquiring one of these gems. I want to procure one in the 24-26' range and rebuild it from the ground up to meet my needs. Although most are, I am not interested restoration. I want to renovate it. I don't know anything about them, however, I am mechanically inclined and I can fix or build just about anything. I have no specific timeframe to get this done. I know that I need to spend a lot of time planning. Where should I begin? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Craigs List is a good place to start looking,I think in the search section you can find a list of things to look for,soft spots etc. There is also a Classified here,you must sign in to classified,before you can contact a seller. Dave

Hi there, and welcome! There's a ton of info here on the forums. Be sure to take lots of time and browse around; you'll get the best advice you could ever hope for here!!

Craigslist is a great place to start. You may even think of putting a "wanted" ad there yourself. That's how we found our first project AS. You'll hear it many times here, but it's easy to underestimate the cost of a resto, but if you're not in a hurry, you're going to have lots of fun with it. Best wishes to you!

As others have indicated Craigslist is a good resource for locating a trailer that meets your needs. There are several search engines which allow you the flexibility to search nationally, or regionally depending on your desire.

We typically use site mash : : combined classified and auction listings

Finding a trailer is fairly easy. Picking one that does not "fall apart" when you attempt to take it home is another kettle of fish. There are some excellent Airstream magazines out there that can boost your chances of obtaining an AS that is in good shape. Some of the titles are:
Blue Beret (the official magazine of the Wally Byam Caravan Club), Airstream Life and The Vintage Advantage to name a few. Good luck and success in your quest. jjustice
