Talking Hello Everyone

I have a 1964 22' Safari.

I purchased it last summer and have been intending on making it better than it is now. It is a bit run down, but solid with mostly original parts. Just stopping in to say hello. I hear there are owners manuals out there for this beast. Also, does anyone have a diagram that might tell me what all these things are in here? Feel free to email me too. green and smileing seems to fit.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Airstream. I have had my Argosy for about 18 months and am still learning what is what. Did have a 67 Caravel a while ago, so some things are coming back to me. However, if you get a digital camera and post pictures of the gadget or part you have a question about, someone will be able to help you here. We are nuts about pictures, so master your camera and go for it.

Those are photo copies, there are also high quality reprints available from Airstream (look at the bottom of the page and top of the next page) I highly reccomend both the owners manual and the service manual.

I had a dent that looked to be almost identical to yours. Having the panel replaced was quoted to cost about $1700. (I believe I posted a picture of my dent under member photos in this forum. Just click on my user name to the left and then click on member photos.) I took my trailer to an Airstream dealer who arranged for a paintless repair person to remove the dent for $40. I swear, no one can tell there was ever a dent there. I was initially concerned that it might reappear, but it was repaired about two years ago and has not returned. You might want to try the paintless repair prior to other forms of making a repair.

Eric,

I wouldn't use a plunger as the downward pressure required to obtain the suction might increase the size of the dent. Get a pump type suction cup (like the glass installers use to move large pieces of glass and mirror). This way you will not be adding force in the wrong direction to pull the dent. They come a lots of sizes too.

Plus, I ditto the rec for a paintless dent removal mechanic. I had a few dings removed from my van and a good dent tech can make them dissappear!

Welcome to the forums and what a great looking Trailer you have. You might try and conquer that dent from the inside. By taking down the liner, drilling out the thousand or so rivets, peeling back the insulation and simply pushing it up. Looked like there was a crease which will always be there so my suggestion is to give it a name. I have used spray insulation to hold the dent from going back in. There is some discussion whether this holds or not but so far so good with my applications. Be careful if you use the super expandable kind it can push out the dent even further than you want or the inside wall.
Good luck and have fun. Keep the pictures coming.

Thanks, didn't think about the downward making it worse. There is no crease, but I will let some "pro" do it. How much does a good polish cost or cost to do?

Nice trailer, cleaning them is so much fun yeah right (I spent three weeks cleaning mine). The beauty mark is not to bad as long as it doesn't leak.
