Hello all!!!

Just purchased a brand new (well, new to me) 1970 Sovereign. Going, hopefully, to pick it up this weekend. I have been hanging in the shadows for a week or so reading all the valuable posts, but figured I'd better show my face and say hello and give a huge group thank you to all that have made both their questions and their responces public in this manner, so that budding newbes like me can learn.

Hope someday I can return the favor,

Scott

Hello- congratulations on your new purchase! If its been sitting for awhile you may need to bring some tools along with you- bearing grease, jack, compressed air, white lithium grease for the hitch, ect. Good luck!

Talking Welcome

WELCOME! I too just joined the forum. I bought a 72 model last week. This forum is the best and everyone is so helpful. May I ask what you tow with? I have a Ford expedition but I think we are going to move up to the excursion. Congratulations on your Airstream!

Just got our Sovereign in October. I'm really in love with all the room. Welcome to the world of Airstream. Sorry to let you know now that it's way too late, but you are hooked and will probably keep looking until you find another perfect Airstream. I Think there's a rule that no one can have just one. I wasn't told how addictive these things are, but then I've been wanting another one since I sold my Caravel in 1987.

Thanks for the warm welcome from all. My TV is either a 1999 1/2 ton 4wd Suburban, or a 1998 4wd Silverado. I have towed S.O.B. campers, car and equipment trailers - this will be my first Airstream. juel, thanks for the warning, better late than never.

Congratulations Scott!!

Take your time towing your new baby home. No need to rush and make mistakes. The older Sovereign's are sweet!!

Hello All,

Just got back for the adventure and the Sovereign is in the driveway, asleep. We camped in it Saturday night, and had some rain, so I foud I have a couple of swing windows to replace the seals on. Thanks to the well wishers, the dry rotted tires held out for 411 miles. They will be replaced before the Sovereign leaves the driveway again. I believe God watches over fools and Airstream owners - so I am doubly blessed!

I'll post some pictures soon,

Scott

Happy to hear the Sovereign made it "home" (and you too of course). That's a long tow with bad tires, but these old trailers seem to want to make it to a safe place. We're all waiting for those pictures and also to hear about your pain and your fun at restoration. Hope you have the satisfaction we're having with the 76 Sovereign.
