Hello All

Hello Airstreamers,

Well, just beginning to search for my first airstream. Big question, what can I tow with a Chevy Silverado 1500 with towing package? Most of my trips will be weekend outings with the occasional week or two jaunt. At most, 25` should get the job done, I would think. Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.

You can tow lots of different Airstream models with your TV. We'll need to know what your vehicle is rated for to pin point the exact ones though. PM me, we will be happy to help you find your first rig.

BTW, we are from the same beautiful small town in New Hampshire. If you'd like to check out our rig let me know.

Howdy and welcome to the Forums.

Rules of thumb.

Up to 23 feet with a 1/2 ton for modern trailers. Vintage are a lot lighter.

Only tow %80 of what your manuel says and remember if your manuels says 5000lbs you have to deduct passengers, fluids, cargo etc.in truck and trailer from the 5000.

Those are the basics but if you punch in GVWR in the search function you can read all the details.

Good luck

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us. With a half ton truck, I would stay in the Bambi range for new and 26' or under in vintage. 5000 pounds would be at the top of my comfort range for any half ton. Half tons just don't have the suspension or brakes for a long distance heavy tow.
