Hi, my wife and I are driving to go pick up our first Airstream June 1st and was wondering if anyone could give us feedback...good and bad, about the model we are buying...a 1979 Sovereign. We think we are getting a good deal, particularly for our first Airstream, however I've heard some not so great things about the "Beatrice Food" models like our 1979...any thoughts? Thanks!
Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us. Best of luck with your new baby. I'm sure someone familiar with the Sovereign will come on soon.

OK, kinda crazy...but just realized that our Sovereign is the one pictured in 1979Sovereign3 in the link that you sent us! Do you know RJ Dial and how I can contact him to see how he came about those photos? We just bought the AS June 1st from a pastor in Minnesota. W-E-I-R-D!

Mark&Nicole, just go to Vintage Airstream Photo Archives
and click on "contact" at the top right and you can send him an e-mail.
That is so exciting that you saw it there. We always want to know our "baby's" history. Happy Airstreaming!
Funny thing...the 24ft Argosy on that link is mine. Don't know where he got the pictures, but was proud to see "The Twink" on there. We also just purchased a 1976 Sovereign last October. We have the rear bedroom one and we like it very much. It has been well taken care of and everything on it worked perfectly except the frig. Replaced that and pulled the trailer down to the lake. We love the room. Some of the rear bath models had some rear floor sag problems, but that can be fixed. Ours does not show any signs of that problem to date. This 76 unit seems to be very well made and holding up extremely well. If you have those vista-view windows, don't let them bother you. They all look horrible unless someone has already fixed them.
