New member here with a new (old) Airstream. I've been hanging around the forums for quite awhile reading about all the adventures...and misadventures...that go along with owning an older AS. It's been good for a few chuckles and even terrifying at times, but the wealth of information here is priceless.
It took months of searching, but I've finally found and purchased the exact AS I've been wanting. She's a 31ft '73
Sovereign CB. 1300 miles and one blowout later, she is now relocated to her new home in Texas and ready for renovations.
I'm not sure yet how extensive the reno's will be. I thought (hoped) it would only go so far as updating the interior, but after pulling up some carpet, I see rot in the plywood in a few areas at the base of the walls, so the easy face lift option seems to no longer be an option. My husband is not nearly as enamored with the old girl as I am and has little interest in another 'project', so the bulk of her repairs will fall on my shoulders. Since I know exactly nothing about trailers, this is sure to be an interesting endeavor!
