Happy New Owner!!

Hey Everyone,

Just picked up my "new" Airstream today. It's a '75 31ft Sovereign Land Yacht. I'm loving it and look forward to using it.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to redo the interior, as the 30 year old interior has seen better days and there's lot's of mouse turds

I've been looking over the site for the last couple of weeks leading up to me picking up my Airstream, so I've had a lot of ideas floating through my head.

I look forward to leaning on you all for some knowledge as I tackle my new project and hope to share my ideas with you as I start.

Welcome C2,

For me the retro finishes are one thing...the mice is another. There are numerous threads describing rather disgusting owner findings and associated smells once mouse cohabitation is verified.

Post some pictures and keep us posted as to your progress.

Happy Holidays,

Kevin

Gloves, TSP and Mr. Clean!!Also an industrial wet vac! Removing the deposits might give you a different perspective. WE just bought a 1965 Ambassador and as the cabinets are in decent shape we are going to keep them. Butchers wax with shoe polish close to the same color will have them looking spiffy in no time!As for the dried out plastic Bathroom-no hope there, it will all be replaced! Go to my blog on Humzoo.com/dannie for the story and pictures. Good Luck you are in for an adventure!

Brian;
Welcome to the forums. I'm sure you will find plenty of changes in getting this new unit cleaned up and making road worthy. Never fear, there are plenty of ideas floating around on the forum.

Looks pretty good compared to my Silver Princess but you know how projects go, one thing begets another. My husband and I have matching recliners at home and I would seriously consider it for the AS when all the other $$$$$$projects are done.

Welcome from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

If you would like to see a whole bunch of Airstreams, both old and new, there is a Forums Rally in January fairly close to you. It will be held on January 9, 10, & 11 at Topsail State Park in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, which is about 50 miles east of Pensacola.

Even if your isn't ready to camp yet, your are welcome to drive over for the day when we have the open houses.

Checkout the Can Opener Rally at the bottom of the Portal Page.

Welcome to the Forum from another Mississippian. I checked out your Blog and noted you were considering removing the front gaucho and installing recliners - that's exactly what we did.

Good luck with the big cleanup and getting her ready to use!

Congrats! Our 1978 Sovereign was pretty nasty too, but a cleaning with Mean Green did a lot to make it liveable. You will hopefully see where the little creeps are getting into your AS.
Have fun!

Well, did some "cleaning" today. A little more than anticipated, but happy that it's done!
Check out the pics on my blog.

The fabric and new floor will make a big difference and not that costly compared to other minor repairs that added up for us. Enjoy we are close to getting our gal on the road.

Hey all,

Thanks for the words of encouragement!!! I'm surely going to need them. I've decided to move my post to the '75 Sovereign forum

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f183/

I did some cleaning today of the exterior and posted some pic on my blog. I also decided to take a look behind a panel and popped off the front panel behind the couch. It looks like I'll be gutting the interior after my findings. Take a look.
