Greetings from Colorado: Congratulations on your retirement (finally). We retired about 4 years ago. Love it! My wife's folks retired in the early 80s, purchased an Airstream, and traveled the country for 25 years. They did plenty of WBCCI caravans, and they escaped the "great white north" of Minnesota during the winter months in their Airstream. They loved it, and got me hooked on Airstream adventures too.
We inherited that Airstream and it is still going strong. We are taking good care of it. We also enjoy traveling the country.
I should think you can find a vintage Airstream that would suit your needs. There are nut cases out there who enjoy renovating these old trailers and making them "travel ready", but not necessarily restoring them to original condition. The Classifieds in these Forums is a popular market place for vintage Airstreams. I sold one there, and I bought the one I'm working on now there.
I recommend the Airstream hobby in your retirement.
David
