Greetings, gentlefolk!
Hi all,
My wife and I were running around doing fun stuff last weekend and saw a big Airstream for sale on the side of the road. We weren't looking for anything of the sort and it looked expensive but I called the number anyway and the asking price was a fraction of what I expected, so about 20 minutes later we cut a check and yesterday towed a 1974, 27' Overlander home. I'd always known eventually I'd have an Airstream and la voila! All of the major systems seem to work fine and it tows like a dream, but there are a bunch of broken and missing storage doors and slides, some leaking lights, and generally deferred maintenance. This evening I started casting around for information and sources for parts and came across this great site. I expect I'll spend a pretty good bit of time here. Thanks very much for hosting this!
An unexpectedly giddy new owner who can't wait for this year's upland bird season!

Howdy and welcome to airforums.com, Mark! Congratulations on buying a trailer for yourself. I'm sure that you will have lots of questions as time goes on, so don't be shy to ask anything you want to know.
Please get lots of pictures posted, both of the interior and exterior. We are a photo-hungry bunch here!

hi mark welcome our dear daughter lives in elkhorn wisc and we visit her often. there is a good a/s dealer in milwaukee. we have gone there for repairs often. it is called ewald. they are a car dealer also. the reason i give you the dealer name is that one cannot get parts from the 'mother ship' one has to go through a dealer. we found out the hard way. you are right, this is a GREAT site.

That's a Cool Airstream-buying story. Beat our decision making by a long shot. We woke up on a Sunday morning on a visit home and my mother said "you should take a look at this new Airstream we saw at a trailer dealer..." And by noon Monday we had totally changed plans to build a second home, and went Airstream hunting instead. We ended up buying that one. And the day we picked it up, at 60 years old, I found myself, once-again, camping out in my parents back yard.
Life just got a little more fun again.
I hope it works that way for you, too.
