Talking Greetings From The White Mountains, NH!

Hello all! Would like to say HELLO as this is our FIRST Airstream that we had just purchased! She was passed on to us by a wonderful couple from Aurora, NY who had owned this beautiful trailer for 40 years! We are so privileged to be able to find such a trailer in GREAT condition! Sagging problem was already fixed, interior carpet replaced a third time, new awnings, lights, heater, water pump, brakes, you name it! She is indeed camp ready! Here she is: a 1972 27ft. Overlander! More pics to come...

Welcome V&B,

Glad you're here with us and congratulations on the Airstream. We spent last weekend hiking in the Franconia Notch Area. Enjoyed the weather, wildlife, and the food.

Regards,

Kevin

Congrats on a nice trailer! Even the awning looks great. Enjoy the Airstream life. It's more than just a trailer.

Welcome to airforums.com! What a lovely trailer that is. You'll have a blast in it.

Did anyone tell you by the way, why there is a "Byam hook" on the International logo?

I'd be tempted to take it off, it could snag something when you least wanted it to...

On our Airstream, the hook is for the awning strap to hook on too so that it'll stay out, to prevent it from retracting back.

Ah, I see. But, I would say that there might be something wrong with the Zip Dee awning if it won't stay out all on it's own. They really don't need to be attached.

That's why there is a loop where the strap is sewed to the awning, you roll it up and tuck it into the loop.

The hook is on the street side and is used for the short Zip Dee. It looks like a Byam Hook but is much larger and is made by Zip Dee. The short awnings need those to stay out. You can see it in action in the last pic on post #6.
