Greetings from NH!

Hello!

My name is Jim. My wife and I are the new owners of a used Airstream.

It's a 1976 Safari that we purchased in late July of 2014. At this point, we are currently in the process of getting materials together to do some repair work on it. We will need to pop out each window, take the weather stripping off then clean it before putting new stripping back on. Also the front window may or may not need a new hinge. When I take it off, I will know for certain where I stand.

On top of that, the front exterior shell will need to have a nice dent worked on to remove said dent. The guy who sold it to us threw in the interior curved section for the front, which we are assuming cracked when it was originally dented.

We are tackling this one step at a time. The windows need to get done first as moisture can get in what it rains hard. I put on a thin piece of regular weather stripping when I winterized it last year and crossed my fingers. Luckily it worked and when we opened her up a few weeks ago, she was completely dry.

Like other new Airstream owners, my head is swimming right now as I learn all this terminology. We moved up from our Coleman popup and were lucky to have found such a good deal.

Jim

Hello Jim and wife . Welcome to the forum and congrats on getting the new AS. We're pretty new to Streaming too but so far so good. I think we've developed a leak in the roof that's given us a soft spot on the floor in the front. I'll be working on it soon to see what the damage is but I think I'll take it up to the factory and let them work on it.

Anyhow, welcome and good luck on the AS fixing up.

Welcome Jim! Congrats! You know, pictures here are a must :-)

You might want to check out some local rallies of the New England Unit as there will be folks there (not me!) who have rebuilt all kinds of Airstreams and would have lots of info to share with you. You can check out the calendar here: http://newengland.wbcci.net

Good luck!!

Thanks for the kind greetings everyone. I am still learning this new forum as it is different and more extensive than the forum I was used to at the Popup Portal. I will forever miss my popup but make no mistake, an Airstream was always our dream camper.

I took pictures earlier today and will upload them for people to see AND offer their suggestions on repair ideas. Question though: Do I just use the "Insert Image" I see here when comprising a message? The reason I ask is because other forums prefer you not to do that, but rather to post them on another site and to link to those pictures.

Dana, the gent I purchased it from lives in Alstead and for a brief period of time, I lived in Enfield right near Crystal Lake. Small world, isn't it?

A very small world. Spent many a summer evening at the old Vilas Pool on Alstead, and a trip to the old dry goods store in downtown Enfield was almost as much fun as the street fair on Lebanon. We visited an old Shaker Village outside Bowling Green on the Fall and I was able to wow the docents with my comprehensive knowledge of the Shakers of Enfield

These I took last summer just after we got her home. We call her "Snoopy 2" and the tow vehicle is "Snoopy 1."

Warner... just a good stone's throw away from Hillsboro. Well, almost. lol
