Going to pick up my 84 Excella 34'

Hi all, new user and new airstream owner and excited as heck to be a new owner.
The excella I got has been sitting for a few years, I bought new tires, re-packed the bearings and am doing all I can to get it ready for the haul home. Its a long way away from me so I can only get so much done at a time when I go there and this trip will be the last one I make to pick it up. One thing I havent done is check the lights. Is there a resource available that I can look up the sizes and amount of tail lights, running lights and brake lights so I can take new ones with me on my trip to pick it up? The dual batteries it has needs to be replaced. Do I need to replace them before the trip or are they just part of the interior power? I am really a newbee and its going to be a long road trip so I would like to be as prepared as possible and thanks ahead of time for any suggestions you might have for me.
I am off to pick it up on Tuesday or Wednesday, I will be hauling it from Hico TX to Loveland Colorado.

Did I post this in the correct area? Should I post it somewhere else?

David, first off, welcome to the Airforums! You have your post in the proper place....
I think you should be sure to have the batteries ready for towing home. The emergency brake operates with the battery (should, heaven forbid, you lose the trailer off the hitch!). As to your lights, I'm sure someone will chime in here to let you know what sizes you need for the running lights & tail lights. I have an '86 Sovereign & the bulbs were available at the auto store (just don't know the size or name of them). It might not be a dumb idea to just pick up a temporary light set from Harbor Freight (or something similar) just in case they aren't working. You could always return them if they do work.

Welcome David

The exterior lights are just standard auto tail lights. I think the running lights and stop lights are 1156. The red tail/turn signal lights may be 1057 or 1157 (guessing here). I have an 84 31' Excella. Let me know if you need an owners manual and if so, I can run a copy for you.

Congratulations, David! You are at the beginning of a wonderful adventure!

There are people here on the forums who are willing to help inspect a trailer for you; you might want to see if there's someone in Texas near where you'll be picking yours up. They'd be happy to help you make sure it's roadworthy.

To find an inspector, click on the Portal tab at the top of this page, then look on the right side of the screen for the Airstream Inspectors list.

Some people charge for their time, some just want a case of beer, some do it for free. It's at least another option for you.

Good luck!

Sharon
