Getting ready to bite the bullet - Camano Island, WA
Hello all!
We've been looking at biting the Airstream bullet for about a decade, and we're finally starting the process. At this point we're looking a new/new'ish 25-28' Flying Cloud or International so my handy husband does not have to spend all of his spare time working on the trailer. We've been camping in our Flagstaff tent trailer for 12 years. Our kids are high schoolers and have just a few years left at home before they fly the nest. We spend a lot of time in the Western US National Parks, especially Yellowstone.
We're planning to walk through the different models this weekend at Airstream NW in Seattle. Does anyone have a good connection with someone there?
We are happy to receive any advice you're willing to offer!

Believe me, buying a new or newish AS doesn't shield you from spending spare time working on it. There are so many projects to consider... batteries, solar, generator, tires, power jack, MicroAir A/C mod, updated converter/charger, etc. It's fun though!

Oh I know there will be time spent working on it! We just don't want the time of RESTORING a trailer! We just finished remodeling our kitchen so he's not looking for a restoration project.

Welcome to the forum. It is always nice to see another Washingtonian in the group.
We had our tent trailer for 17 years and the kids grew and moved on. Knowing that we wanted to travel we picked up our 2006 25FB in 2009. Found it on Craigs List and saved a lot of money, but we were lucky.
It is a great idea to go see the trailers in person and sit in them and try to imagine weeks on the road. We really like our front bed and the 25 works well for us. The 27 is starting to look even better because of the extra space. The newer trailers have ducted AC which would be a big plus for us.
Seating is not as comfortable in the 25 and 27 as it is in the 28. So....you have lots of things to think about and only you can decide what is best for you. Have fun looking.

Thank you so much for the insight! Being on the west side of WA I am always looking at the heating options, although after camping in Zion a couple years ago, air conditioning seemed much more important! Your situation sounds a lot like ours with the kids getting ready to head out.

Hello noeljoy from another Camano Island member. My wife and I are also recent converts from the tent trailer world. Really enjoyed our time in the 20 + years we had one. It certainly is nice to have a great bathroom and kitchen in our new to us 2007 Safari 20. We have enjoyed it immensely since we got it last August. We found ours on the AirStream buy and sell site that is part of this forum after looking for many months.
Hope to see you on the road
Jerry

We bought our FC 27 FB from the Portland (Gladstone) store of Adventures NW. They are good people.

It's good to know there are other AS folks out here on Camano! So glad you're loving the transition from a tent trailer as well.
