In the game!

Just joined the forum. We've been lusting after a tin can for a number of years. We just purchased a 1976 Argosy. The odd thing is that it is a 24 footer but has a front dinette. The catalogs of the day don't have a 24 footer with a dinette. We wanted it that way so all is good. Everything is original but there has been some "improvements" to the electrical and plumbing that we have to sort out but most of the facilities work. I've been looking for some schematics of the systems but can't seem to find any. I guess I'll just have to figure things out.

I Guess You'll Call Your Argosy the Home of the Whopper...

Welcome Flitz,
You've found the right place for advice on all things Airstream and Argosy with a light garnish of pop culture and good humor.

One of the things that I have learned while researching a presentation on the Argosy Trailers of the first generation (1972-1979) was that a dinette could be substituted in any of the models as an option to the somewhat more familiar front lounge. In 1972, the up-charge for this change was $50.00 -- I didn't run across the charge (if any) for any other model years, but found mention of the option for virtually every model year.

Since I trust most of my maintenance to my Vintage Friendly Airstream dealer, I can't verify whether there were ever any service manuals published for the Argosy. The owners' manuals were far more comprehensive than the early attempt (fist year they were published) at an owners' manual that came with my '64 Overlander International. From what I have been able to learn, much of the internal infra-structure is quite comparable to that found in Airstreams of similar size and floor plan.

Good luck with your refurbishment!

Kevin
