First timer

Well good morning everyone!!
This is my first time to join a forum , looked like a good way to get info and ideas about restoring or upgraging my 77 ambassader. It was quite the find a co worker knows I am into old cars and asked if I was interested in an airstream that was about to be scrapped for stroage fees.I got it for $750.00
and spent another $200.00 for registration, so not a bad deal to start from. All equipment is in working orde with a 2 year old frig. We have a rear bath all orig. and intact but very dirty, mid biths thinking about constructing bunks for storage or grand kids, want to remove front jacknife couch and install a horseshoe booth. I am gutting the kitchen and completly redoing. Hope to post a web sight soon. I am open to all idea's .

Hi dlscott425 - Welcome to the Forums!

This sounds interesting if somebody cared about it recently enough to put in a fridge 2 years ago. Better yet if the air conditioner works! Nice!! All these projects take more work than we think initially. Spend lots of time here. Oh, there are so many systems...

If you don't have an iPod I would still recommend listening to The Vintage Airstream Podcast - Home while you're sitting at your computer. Go back to episode 22 in their archives -- Tim picked up his Ambassador on that episode. He has just completed his rebuild -- with a lot of unbelievable sponsor contributed merchandise -- but the blog on theVAP.com can give you an idea of all the steps.

Hi and welcome!
Sounds like a great find, now the work and real $$ start!
There are some other folks here who have done bunk beds as a retrofit, you may want to do a search.
Nice to have you join us.
Dave

Welcomes aboard you are now among friends. All with something to say, most of it helpful. What a great start you have but, lots of hard work ahead of you.
If you can't get the right kind of help here, it most likely isn't out there.

Pictures are always appreciated.

Cheers, Richard SL

Hi and welcome to the forums. This is a great place to learn. Looks like you did well on the acquisition. You mentioned you are a car guy. What else do you like to spend money on other than airstreams ?? As you can see from my avatar photo, we have a 47 Chrysler - also a 48 Jeep Willys and a 48 Plymouth woodie. How about some photos of the new airstream and any old cars you might have. We all love pictures. Good luck on the renovations.
