Hi Everyone,
My name is Dave and we live in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Yes, there really is a Kalamazoo and it is awesome. After years of Airstream Christmas decorations and even a very nice painting, my wife gave me the green light to do something that I have always wanted to do... restore an Airstream. We bought a 1950 Liner. We plan on restoring it to its former glory on the outside but with modern features on the inside. When I was a kid and teenager, I spent hours designing trailer layouts, and camping in one with the family. You can only imagine my excitement with this project and to be with other Airstreamers at rallies.

I must say thank you to my wife, who as an avid tent camper, has found it in her heart to indulge me.

Welcome to the club! Good luck on the project, please keep us posted with pictures. I know well about Kalamazoo, went to Western Michigan University, and lived there until 1991. A great little big town!

Greetings from 100 miles East. That's quite a wonderful find. It seems that you already have the knowledge, skills and tools, to assume the responsibility of your Iconic trailer. You mention having a seasoned camping companion, and that's a big plus. I'll bet it doesn't take long for her to assume ownership of the project. That's pretty much the way it happened with us. We're having fun whether camping or riveting. Wishing you the best on your restoration journey.

Hi Kzoo; You found yourself a gem! Maybe we should register it in the Michigan Registration of Historic Places? There is quite a following of these old, iconic Airstreams.

You probably found the "Airstream Knowledge Base > Travel Trailers > Liners toward the bottom of the Air Forums home page. Here you Liner owners can discuss the trials and tribulations of restoring these lovely old trailers. I've been following Submariners 48 Liner restoration. Man, he is doing everything! It is interesting to watch him work.

Airstream factory in Jackson Center has on old Liner on display in their front parking lot. We looked it over when we were there a couple of years ago.

Welcome, and keep us posted on your Liner adventures.
